Vehicle Description

The Jaguar XK 140 was introduced at the London Motor in 1954 and continued in production until 1957, its commercial success benefiting from the D-Type's racing victories at Le Mans in 1955, 56, and 1957. Superseded by the XK150 in 1957, the XK140 is nevertheless considered by may to be the more desirable car.

This elegant open sports roadster has only recently been released from long term UK ownership having been initially bought over from the America in 1989 and converted to RHD by marque experts in 1992. Detailed invoices on file confirm the all works and interestingly an hourly labour rate of just £20.....they were the days!

Being a 'MC' model (SE in UK) 'M' standing for modified and 'C' for competition, it has larger valves, throats and porting, 2' bore carburettors, plus twin exhausts and produced a healthy 190BHP. Genuinely a high performance motor car in period, the factory managed a credible 141.51 at Jabekke race track in Belgium, something i don't think i would relish, that said, it was very happy and relaxed on the A3 at 70 mph last week.

With less than 500 miles driven since 2011, majority of these related to its yearly MOT outing, this XK is in ready excellent shape, especially so since some recent pre-sale works, which have included new front disc brakes, new wires and tyres, new manifold, a complete stainless exhaust and a full service. The front disc brake conversion is vastly superior to the standard drums and certainly inspires confidence, something I can attest to, having covered 80 miles in her last week....actually got caught in the rain and happily deployed roof and side screens which all fit and work properly.

It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This Jaguar can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call me on 07788 865700.
